MCAD is responsible for some of the city's biggest signature events that are host to thousands of people annually. Events include Chalk the Block Public Arts festival held in the month October and the Downtown Art & Farmers Market that is open year-round.
All of our events are free to the community and provide all patrons with one-of-a-kind experiences but also provide opportunities for both local and national artists of all disciplines.
Downtown Art & Farmers Market
Established in 2011, the market offers original arts and crafts, food vending, regionally grown agricultural products, artisans, regional farmers and live entertainment from local artists.
Chalk the Block
Chalk the Block takes over downtown El Paso in October. Applications for artists, musicians, artisan vendors and food trucks will open next summer. In 2019, 48,000 people enjoyed the region's largest public art festival in downtown El Paso. Each year, about 200 local, national and international artists from all disciplines participate at CTB creating a fun, quirky and diverse environment for people of all ages to enjoy. The event features: Temporary interactive art installations, live dance and theatrical performances, a sidewalk chalk art competition, live bands, art and food vendors.
